Azerbaijani Energy Minister Natig Aliyev has received Deputy Assistant Secretary for Energy Diplomacy Ms. Robin Dunnigan, who arrived in Baku for participation in the 3rd meeting of the Consultative Council on the Southern Gas Corridor Project.

During the meeting Minister Aliyev pointed to the negative impact of the changed Italian government on the project.

"The elimination of a number of difficulties with the construction of the TAP pipeline in Italy will ensure the success of the Southern Gas Corridor in this segment and its start-up in due time," the minister added.

Ms. Dunnigan, naming the Southern Gas Corridor one of the priorities in the energy security, stressed that the TAP project will strengthen Azerbaijan’s position. After that, the U.S. will be able to continue support for projects of Azerbaijan.

The parties also raised the matters of US-Azerbaijan energy cooperation in other fields.
