From May 30 to May 31, the International Caspian Oil & Gas Conference Caspian Oil & Gas was held at Fairmont Baku Hotel. The largest energy conference in the Caspian region marks its 25th anniversary this year. Over the past years, the Caspian Oil & Gas Conference has been a favourable platform for discussing the most topical issues of the oil and gas sector. Over the last 25 years, the conference has annually brought together top-level managers who consider it a not-to-be missed event. The Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) both show invaluable support for Caspian Oil & Gas. The organisers of the conference are ITE Group and its partner Iteca Caspian.
This year the conference brought together about 500 delegates, including top managers of companies, representatives of line ministries, international and Azerbaijani experts.
Other distinctive features of the conference included technical reports at the highest level, spirited debates and a favourable information environment. At the conference was discussed such topics as: “Cooperation and innovation as the key factors of sustainable future”, “The last 25 years of Caspian oil and gas – past, present and future. Fresh impetus for oil and gas industry of Azerbaijan”, “The last 25 years of Caspian oil and gas – investments and export challenges and opportunities”, “Operate efficiently. Key imperatives of development of the geological exploration”, “Operate efficiently. Technological innovations and best practice in oilfield development”, “The last 25 years of Caspian oil and gas - long contributions to Azerbaijan’s Oil & Gas industry and science”, “New opportunities in Caspian projects”, “Advanced technologies in environmental and industrial safety”, “Refining and petrochemical outlook. Current look and future perspectives”, “Human resources in a time of digital transformation”. As part of the conference programme, a film dedicated to the memory of the late Azerbaijani energy minister Natiq Aliyev who was actively participating at both the exhibition and the conference since the beginning. Within the framework of the conference, will be signed several memorandums and agreements.
More than 49 speakers presented their reports. The program of the conference included speeches Mr. Parviz Shahbazov, Minister of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Mohammad Sanusi Barkindo, Secretary General, Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), Mr. Yury Sentyurin, Secretary General of Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), Mr. Rovnag Abdullayev, President of SOCAR, Mr. Gary Jones, Regional President of BP Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey, Mr. Günther H. Oettinger, European Commissioner for Budget and Human Resources, European Commission and others.
The status of the event was also emphasized by the sponsors of the conference. Traditionally, for many years, the General sponsor of Caspian Oil & Gas conference was SOCAR. At this year’s conference, the organisers established a media centre that included a producing studio. The media centre’s schedule was extremely tight; interviews with industry leaders and top officials of the largest participating companies from around the globe was broadcasted live right from the conference.
This year, the sightseeing tour for the Caspian Oil & Gas conference delegation included a visit to the famous Nobel Brothers Museum, also known as Villa Petrolea. Many representatives from different countries around the globe saw for themselves an important historical element of our country, and they consider it an unforgettable experience.
Thus, the conference provided suppliers with the opportunity to talk to customers and colleagues, to present technologies and services in action, to acquire useful business contacts, and to get new information and technologies, expanding the opportunities for international collaboration in the oil and gas sector.
Next year the conference will be held from May 30 to May 31.
